Sufficient time will be provided for questions and discussion.

Upon completion of this program, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the organizational structure of the Joint Commission’s Environment of Care, Life Safety, and Emergency Management Standards for Healthcare;
  • Explain requirements for the workplace violence standard;
  • Articulate the focus areas of the environment of care and life safety standards, including document reviews and surveys of the healthcare facilities;
  • Identify strategies to correct deficiencies related to environment of care and life safety standards;
  • Explain structural modifications of behavioral health units to reduce ligature risks; and
  • Identify deficiencies from hospital photos and use that insight to identify accreditation issues at their own hospitals during internal safety surveys.
